The Pink Book, Volume III
This week, the Liberal Women’s Caucus presented Michael Ignatieff with The Pink Book III, a set of policy recommendations focused on women in the workforce, health and safety and equality. While Stephen Harper has been referring to women as a “left wing fringe group,” Michael has always recognized the challenges women face in society and remains committed to women’s equality and the defense of women’s rights.
Stephen Harper’s track record on women’s equality issues has been a dismal failure. He removed the word “equality” from the Status of Women’s mandate; cut $1 billion from crucial programs and services that help improve the lives of women and vulnerable Canadians; denied real pay equity and eliminated the Court Challenges Program, to name just a few. What’s clear is that Stephen Harper is turning back the clock on the hard won efforts of Canadian women have made toward real equality.
It’s time to stand up to Stephen Harper and tell him that women are not a left-wing fringe group. And we can prove it at the polls.
